As a scientist in General Pharmacology in Research Department Drug Discovery Research, you will help to reduce animal use and gain PK/PD related information beyond comparison of discrete treatment groups. Tasks & responsibilities In your new role you are involved in the study design. You generate the application for animal use and supervise the collection of physiological data with one or more established experimental animal models. Besides, you coordinate the data analysis with input from biostatistics and PK/PD internal or external experts. On the basis of the results you provide the group with a proposal whether experimental protocols in the group should be modified to adapt this experimental approach. You evaluate the utility of a novel study design for general pharmacology (safety pharmacology) studies. Briefly, more dose levels, covering a larger dosing range, but with fewer animals per treatment group than usual, are to be used. Requirements Ph.D., Vet.med. or Med. D. degree and background to allow for the supervision and/or conduct of experimental animal studies (e.g. FELASA C) Practical experience with physiological or pharmacological experimental animal models Background with experimental design and statistical evaluation; experience with PK/PD modelling is desirable Excellent communication skills to prepare and execute animal studies, collect physiological data, prepare data for statistical evaluation and PK/PD modelling Innovative, motivated and solution-oriented way of working About us Improving the health and quality of life of patients is the goal of the research-driven pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim.
